A teacher has been fired from her job after deliberately coughing on a one year-old boy who subsequently developed a fever. The woman, who has not been named, was axed from the San Jose Oak Grove School District on Monday after the toddler’s mom, Moreya Mora, identified her photo from a line-up.
The cougher sparked outrage last month after taking her mask off her face at a Yogurtland cafe in San Jose, before hacking her throat in front of Mora’s young son. He developed a fever shortly afterwards, although the youngster has since recovered and did not sustain any serious injuries.
A school district spokesman told ABC7: ‘We want to inform our community that the District employee who was alleged to have engaged in this conduct is no longer an employee of our District. ‘The Oak Grove School District’s highest priority is the safety of our students and the well-being of all of the children in the community we serve. We do not tolerate conduct from any employee that compromises any child’s safety.’
They swung into action after the woman was identified online, with threats being made to the school and its buildings from internet vigilantes who demanded she be dismissed. Speaking after the incident last month, Mora told KGO that the woman confronted her, her mom and her son about not keeping their distance from her, as California continues to battle a worrying surge of coronavirus cases. She said: ‘Coughing on someone’s face.
She did it on purpose it’s not like she did it on accident, oh cough, cough – no she purposely coughed on my son’s face. ‘It happened so quick I was in shock. ‘She got close, she took off her mask, and she coughed three times super hard on my son’s face.
